28 YEARS OF PRESENTING
LIVE MUSIC IN RHODE ISLAND
Stone Soup Stage at the Pawtucket Arts Festival
September 13 & 14, 2008
1:00 - 5:00 PM
Stone
Soup Coffeehouse opens its 28th Season at the
Pawtucket Arts Festival
in
Slater Park on Saturday, September 13, and Sunday,
September 14, 2008. Performances begin at 1:00 each
day.
Saturday’s music begins with the nautical songs of the
high-energy New England-based group, Barnacle.
Stingy Brimm then takes the Stone Soup stage with their
engaging brand of American roots, blues and
world-influenced originals along with a generous helping
of "unplugged' classic blues. Saturday ends with
the wicked percussion,
sublime lead singing, great harmonies, sparkling
original songs and the deep repertoire of
Rani Arbo and daisy
mayhem.
Sunday’s performers begin with The Low Anthem,
whose songs on their
newest album were termed, “a collection of superbly
crafted, grandly eloquent songs" by The Boston Globe.
Then listen to
Jim’s Big Ego - “unpop for the unpopulous.” End the
weekend with the Northeast's superlative
veteran string band, Northern
Lights,
a band that
has created its own tradition - a constant exploration
of new musical territory without ever losing its
acoustic and vocal bearings.
As you listen, enjoy the
arts and crafts booths. Take home some artist CDs. Visit
the Rhode Island Blood
Center Mobile Coach on Saturday from 11-2 and on Sunday from
10-1.
